The Mayor's Garage

Youngman Lovell sourced and acquired this rare and unusual site in Camberwell. It is located at the end of a private cobbled mews and its walls form the boundary of the adjacent Lucas Gardens. In a previous life, the garage was rumoured to have housed the Mayor of Southwark’s Rolls Royce.

Youngman Lovell worked closely with Turner Works Architects (turner.works) who designed a two storey house and successfully gained planning permission. The building’s timber slatted façade minimises its impact on the surrounding area and its scale, design and detail are influenced by the neighbouring industrial buildings. Accommodation comprises two bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor and a generous open plan living area and terrace on the first floor.
